Terms & Conditions
The practical terms that apply when you ask M&M about rendering, plastering, repairs or related work.
About These Terms
These terms explain the basis on which M&M Coloured Rendering Limited discusses and carries out rendering, plastering, repair and related services. They also explain how information on this website should be understood.
A project quotation, written agreement or other specific arrangement accepted for your job may contain additional or different details. Where it does, that project-specific document takes precedence over these general terms.
Quotations
Quotations are based on the information and site conditions reasonably available when they are prepared. We may need to inspect the property before confirming what work is suitable.
A quotation is not acceptance of work by either party until the scope and arrangements have been agreed. Unless the quotation says otherwise, it does not include work or conditions that could not reasonably be identified at the time.
Scope of Work
We will carry out the work described in the agreed quotation or project arrangement. The scope may cover preparation, protection, application, finishing and reasonable clean-down where those items have been discussed.
Rendering and plastering depend on the condition of the surfaces, access and weather. We will explain material changes to the scope when they become apparent.
Materials
We select materials and systems suitable for the agreed work, taking account of the substrate, location and requested finish. Where a particular product or brand is agreed, availability may affect the proposed timing.
Natural materials, colour batches, substrates, lighting and application conditions can create reasonable differences in colour, texture or appearance. An exact match with a colour reference, photograph or existing surface cannot always be guaranteed.
Payments
M&M does not generally require a deposit. Depending on the job, payment towards materials may be requested as work progresses, with the remaining balance handled in line with the payment arrangements agreed for that project.
The individual quotation or agreement will explain the payment arrangements for your job. Please raise any payment question promptly so it can be discussed before work proceeds further.
Access to the Property
You must provide safe and reasonable access to the areas included in the agreed work at the times arranged. This may include access for preparation, delivery, scaffolding or equipment where relevant.
If access is unavailable or unsafe, the programme may need to change and additional costs caused by the interruption may need to be discussed.
Customer Responsibilities
Please tell us about known damp, movement, leaks, previous repairs, fragile finishes or other conditions that could affect the work. You should also arrange any permissions that are your responsibility and follow practical preparation guidance we give you.
Before internal work, remove or protect belongings as discussed. Keep children and pets away from active work areas and do not use newly finished surfaces until we advise that it is suitable.
Changes and Additional Work
If you request changes or additional work, or if unforeseen substrate, damp or structural issues are found, the work and any additional cost or time should be discussed before it proceeds wherever reasonably possible.
Some urgent or necessary steps may be needed to make the site safe or protect unfinished work. We will explain those steps and the likely effect on the project as soon as practicable.
Timing and Delays
Any timing discussed at quotation stage is an estimate unless a different arrangement is expressly agreed. Weather, curing conditions, access, material availability, site conditions and changes to the scope can affect the programme.
We will keep you updated about material changes to timing and work with you to agree a practical next step.
Standard of Work
M&M aims to carry out agreed work with reasonable care and skill and to a professional standard appropriate to the job. Good results depend on suitable preparation, the condition of the substrate and following care guidance after completion.
As with all building finishes, reasonable trade tolerances and variations in an existing property may be visible in certain light or viewing conditions.
Guarantees and Remedial Work
M&M stands behind its workmanship, but no specific fixed guarantee period has been supplied for these general terms. If you believe there is a workmanship issue, contact us promptly with details and photographs where helpful so the issue can be assessed.
Where M&M is responsible for a genuine workmanship defect, appropriate remedial action can be discussed and, where agreed, carried out. Normal wear, building movement, substrate failure, damp, structural defects, damage caused by others or circumstances outside our work are not automatically workmanship defects. Any manufacturer or product warranty is separate and depends on the system used.
Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel or change an enquiry, quotation or agreed project, contact us as soon as possible by telephone or WhatsApp. The practical and financial consequences will depend on what has been agreed, what work or materials have already been provided, and the rights that apply to the particular customer and service.
Any statutory cancellation rights that apply remain unaffected. We will not ask you to give up a right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Damage / Existing Defects
We take reasonable care when protecting surrounding areas and carrying out the agreed work. You must tell us about fragile, defective or previously damaged surfaces before work starts where you know about them.
Existing defects, hidden conditions, movement, damp, leaks, structural problems and damage caused by other people may affect the finish or require additional work. We cannot accept responsibility for conditions we did not cause and could not reasonably have identified or prevented.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow it, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or your statutory consumer rights.
Subject to that, we are responsible for losses caused by a failure to provide the agreed service with reasonable care and skill to the extent required by law. We are not responsible for loss arising from conditions outside our reasonable control, inaccurate information supplied by a customer or work carried out by others.
Website Information
We aim to keep the website clear and accurate, but photographs, colour references and technical explanations are provided for general information. They are not a substitute for inspecting a particular property and do not form part of a project scope unless included in an agreed quotation.
Website availability and external links may change. We are not responsible for the content or availability of websites operated by other organisations.
Your Statutory Rights
If you are a consumer, the law gives you rights in relation to services, including the principle that services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. These terms are not intended to remove or reduce rights that apply to you.
If you have a concern about work, please contact us promptly so we can understand the issue and discuss a practical resolution.
Governing Law
These general terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
